Do I Need Primer Before Painting Over White Semi-Gloss Walls?

I recently bought a house with white semi-gloss painted concrete walls, and I'm planning to repaint them in a color called Luna Moon. I'm wondering if I need to apply a primer before I start painting, or can I just go straight to the semi-gloss finish? Any tips would be appreciated!

I really wouldn't recommend using semi-gloss for walls. It can reflect too much light and create some weird shadows. A flat or eggshell finish might look much better. Also, you probably won’t need primer unless you see any spots that need it.

I think primer isn't necessary in your case. Just clean the walls well—using something like TSP would work great. I love using a pearl finish, which is somewhere between eggshell and semi-gloss. It's much easier to clean than flat finishes!

If your walls are concrete and already have a gloss paint, a primer could help with adhesion. But honestly, if they're clean and in good shape, you might be fine skipping it. Just make sure to wash the walls thoroughly first!
