Do I need to buy a junction box for my Bosch dishwasher to keep the warranty?

I was told by Home Depot that I need to purchase a junction box even if my setup doesn't require hardwiring for my Bosch dishwasher, or else my warranty will be voided. However, I've heard from others that this isn't true. Can anyone clarify this situation?

The requirement really depends on your specific installation and model. If you check the instructions that come with your dishwasher, they'll spell it out for you. Just a heads up, I've heard more reliable advice from independent sources than from the folks at Home Depot.

Totally agree! Always better to trust the manual or a pro over some random sales rep.

Home Depot is not the one enforcing Bosch’s warranty. Their installers are hit or miss, so I wouldn’t rely on them for the best advice. If you feel comfortable, you might want to install it yourself, especially if you're replacing an old dishwasher—that’s what I did! If you’re unsure, find a local handyman with good reviews to help you out.

I had installation included when I bought my last few appliances from HD, but you can definitely opt-out if you want.

I've bought two Bosch dishwashers, and both came with plugs already. Junction boxes are only for hardwiring, so check your model's installation guide on Bosch's website.

Make sure to read the instructions! My Bosch came with a power cord, so I converted my hard-wire to use an outlet box. I installed the outlet in the basement and ran the cord through the wall with the water line—super tidy! No messy outlets in my cabinets with all the dishes.
