Do I Need to Dilute Black Kow Manure When Adding to My No Dig Garden?

I've been using the no dig method in my raised bed garden for a couple of years now. I plan to add a layer of Black Kow manure this season, but I've heard suggestions that it might need to be diluted to avoid harming my plants. For those of you experienced with no dig gardening, do you mix your compost with soil, or just lay it on top as is?

You definitely don't need to dilute it. I usually add about an inch of compost each year, and it works perfectly as a mulch layer too! Keeping it simple is the way to go.

That sounds like a solid plan! I'm all about layering efficiently without overcomplicating things.

Black Kow manure is different from regular compost, so it's good to keep that in mind. You can just add the compost straight on top without worrying about dilution unless you're concerned about how nutrient-rich it might be. Some folks recommend adding a little mulch on top as well, just to keep everything cozy for your plants.

Yeah, I've been doing that too! Just a layer of compost and a thick mulch on top to keep things from drying out.

If you're worried about it being too rich, you could mix it a bit with your soil, or just do a thin layer and add more once your plants are established. It usually evens out nicely in the long run!
