I just tried to register some new Milwaukee tools on their website, but it said I didn't need to and that I should just keep my receipt. From what I've heard, many other tool brands require registration for warranty coverage. Is this a new policy for Milwaukee, or have they always done it this way?

Ryobi lets you register your tools, but they base the warranty on the receipt date. If you misplace your receipt, they fallback to the manufacturing date. It wouldn’t surprise me if Milwaukee operates similarly, banking on folks losing their receipts. It's good to know you have digital records, just in case!
I didn't even get the option to register my tools, but I've got all my receipts saved online too. They can't pull the 'manufacturing date' trick on me! ?
I've personally never registered any Milwaukee tools. To be honest, I wasn't even aware that registration was an option. In my 10 years with Milwaukee, I've only had to claim warranty on three tools and never had to worry about registration or receipts.
Thanks for sharing your experience!
It sounds like that's more of a Ridgid thing. Milwaukee seems to have a different approach to warranties, focusing on keeping your receipt more than registering the tools.

Right? I've scanned mine into the Home Depot app so I'm covered no matter what.
