I'm wondering whether I need to sharpen the inside of my gouges with an abrasive after honing the bevel, or if just stropping the inside will do the trick. What are other people's techniques for handling this?

If you're working with out-cannel gouges, I recommend wrapping some wet/dry sandpaper around a dowel—different sizes for different gouges. It’s effective, or you can go with slip stones. Just ensure you remove the burr somehow.
I generally use a fine slip stone for the inside and follow that up with stropping. It gives a nice finish and helps in taking off any burrs effectively.
Personally, I only sharpen the bevel of the gouge. I always strop the inside to flip the burr, and it works out well for me. No need for excessive sharpening inside unless there's visible damage.
