I'm in the process of replacing my picket fence panels and I'm curious if I need to wait before painting or staining them. When I had my deck installed, I was told to wait a whole year for staining. Is that the same for wood picket fencing, or can I go ahead and paint or stain it before I attach the panels to the posts?

You can definitely paint or stain those panels before putting them together. Just be prepared for some touch-ups afterward. Waiting a year? That's just not necessary! Think about it—it's like when you’re installing moldings in a new house; it’s way easier to finish them before they're actually in place!

But isn't the picket fence pressure treated? The molding inside the house isn't treated, which is why I heard to wait a year. Should I skip that advice?
