Hey everyone! I'm taking care of a lawn for the first time ever after moving from an apartment to a house, and I have a quick question about leaf blowers. I've noticed landscapers using them after cutting and trimming the grass, but I'm unsure of their purpose. Do I need one to gather the grass clippings or just to clear them off hard surfaces? I've heard opinions on both sides, so any help would be appreciated as I navigate this new suburban life. Thanks in advance!

Honestly, a blower isn't really necessary during summer when the weather does a good job of keeping things tidy. I have one, and I only use it a couple of times a month at most. Just running your mower over any grass clippings on the sidewalk should do the trick. If you like things clean, then maybe keep a blower around, but it's not essential by any means.
You definitely don't need a blower! Most people use them for cleaning off driveways and patios, but when it comes to your lawn, it’s actually better to just mulch your grass clippings. Leave them on the lawn, and they'll break down and add nutrients back into the soil. If you were thinking of getting one, you can probably skip it – a lot of people find them noisy and unnecessary anyway.
I agree, a blower isn't a must-have. I just use a broom to keep my front walk and sidewalk clean. I do enjoy having everything looking nice, but I also find it way easier to just cut the grass regularly so there aren't many clippings to deal with. Plus, blowing stuff around can kick up dust and allergens, which isn't great for anyone!
