Do I Really Need a Roof for My Raised Garden?

I'm a beginner gardener looking to enhance my skills, and I'm in the process of building a 10 x 14 raised garden where I can walk in. I'm uncertain if I should install a roof, like chicken wire, to keep out squirrels and other animals. I'm also planning to have 80" high sides with chicken wire on them to protect against rabbits and critters that can't get out. I'd love to hear some thoughts on whether a roof is necessary or if it's overkill!

I think it’s best to set up your walls first and see how it goes! For me, having raised beds was more of a "let's see what happens" kind of adventure. You might not even need the roof if you don’t have too many pests!

That does make sense, but I worry that if I decide to add a cover later, it might complicate how I built the posts. Maybe I am just overthinking it all! Thanks for your input!
