Do Online Shoppers Prefer Surprise Gifts or Labels?

Asked By CactusCrafter88 On

As a business owner running a small online cactus shop, I'm currently including a mini cactus as a free gift with each order. I'm considering whether to label the cactus so customers can identify the type immediately or leave it unmarked to keep an element of surprise while they watch it grow and bloom. I want to know what shoppers think: would you prefer to know what the cactus is right away, or would the mystery add to the excitement? I appreciate any input!

Having been in business for over 30 years, I suggest skipping the label. Not only does it allow you to switch up the offerings based on availability, but as long as you include care instructions and the expected size, I think it would be wise to keep the name a secret. Just keep in mind that some customers might end up confused about what they've received.

I totally think a label is important! I’d be really disappointed if my surprise plant came without a name. Knowing what I’m getting helps me take better care of it right from the start.

The idea of a mystery is fun, but I would want to know what the cactus is. Being able to research its care, and ensuring it’s a good fit for my home or pet situation, is super important for me!
