I'm curious if there are any sliding miter saws that actually come equipped with depth stops. I've seen videos where they use these saws for cutting lap joints, and I can't tell if they're just guessing the depth or if they have some kind of depth stop set up. Anyone know more about this?

The Festool Kapex is a great option since it has a depth stop. I've found it pretty useful for precise cuts!
The Bosch Glide saws have a depth stop too, but just a heads up—it can get a bit off if you push down too hard. Even so, it comes in handy at times!
My Makita has a depth stop, and I think most sliding miter saws do, but honestly, it's not the best tool for making half laps. You usually need to space your work off the fence with a sacrificial board, use a blade with a flat top grind, and even then, the cuts might need some extra refining with a router or a table saw.
I agree with you on that! For the best results, having square shoulders really helps, especially when finishing with a router. It can save you a lot of time compared to trying to do everything with just a router.

Totally! I've used it and found it's helpful when you're careful, but you definitely have to watch your pressure.
