I've been reading conflicting info about succulents, especially string of pearls, watermelons, and dolphins. At the store, I see them in the "6+ hours of sunlight" section, but some articles warn that too much direct sunlight can harm them. I live in an apartment with a south-facing patio where I get mid-afternoon sun. Should I keep these guys outside or is that a recipe for disaster?

You're on the right track! These plants can definitely enjoy the sun, but it's all about how you introduce them. If they're used to low light, simply throwing them outside can cause sunburn. So, gradually acclimate them to the stronger light, and they should be fine. Just pay attention to how they react!
Sounds like you’ve got a great setup with that south-facing patio! Based on my experience, those string of dolphins and pearls thrive in bright light. I had mine in an east-facing window, and they got leggy because they weren't getting enough sun. I eventually let them die from neglect, but when I moved them outside where they got several hours of direct sunlight, they perked up. I'd say go for it, just keep an eye on them as they adjust!

Yeah, I’ve heard they prefer more light too, but Google says differently! It might just be individual plant luck. But I've also seen them do well in direct sun as long as they're acclimated.
