Do Succulents Struggle with Humidity?

I've been caring for some succulents, including a few types of cacti, a snake plant, and a dwarf aloe, and usually, I keep them outside during the hot summer months near Toronto. Lately, however, I noticed that my dwarf aloe and star cactus started showing dark brown spots instead of their usual vibrant green. It's been quite humid here for the past week, so I brought them inside to protect them. I'm really wondering if succulents, being desert plants, don't do well in high humidity conditions?

Just adding my two cents here! I live in South Georgia where humidity hovers around 94% at night, and my cacti and succulents thrive outside despite the moisture. So, while humidity can be a factor, it might be your lighting and potting setup that's contributing more to the problem. Maybe share some pics of your plants; it could help others diagnose the issue better!

It sounds like you're on the right track! Succulents can definitely struggle in high humidity since they're adapted to dry climates. Dark spots often indicate stress from too much moisture or not enough light. As for your cacti, they might be etiolated, meaning they're stretching out due to insufficient light. It might be a good idea to gradually expose them to more sunlight or consider getting a grow light. Don't forget to ensure they've got enough drainage in their pots!
