I've always been told that tomatoes need lots of space to grow properly. However, I recently watched an episode of Gardener's World where Monty said that planting tomatoes close together could actually lead to more fruit production! Is this common advice among gardeners? Can anyone share their experiences or insights on this? Thanks a lot!

It's true that planting them closer can increase risks like blight since they need good airflow. Last year, my tomatoes ended up closer together than I wanted because of bad weather, and I ended up with blight. I’d prefer a smaller harvest if it means less risk of disease.
I saw that episode too! I'm trying it out this season—I've planted two tomatoes in one grow bag where they have some room, and in another bag, I squeezed in three or four. We'll see how each bag does!

Definitely keep us posted on how that experiment goes!
