I'm getting into woodworking as a hobby and I'm gradually building up my collection of tools. I've noticed a lot of posts about sales recently, which got me thinking about purchasing methods. When you buy your tools from hardware stores, do they usually come in a hard case or just a bag? I know you can buy tool boxes separately, but is there an option to get a case for each individual tool right off the shelf?

Honestly, most of us just end up tossing those cases anyway! They aren't always that useful for long-term storage.
The model of the tool really dictates whether it comes with a case or a bag. It varies by brand and store, so you'll typically see options priced accordingly. If you're not fond of the bags, just look for the models that specifically advertise a case.

Ah, that makes sense! I was worried since I've only seen bags offered at hardware stores over here, and I really prefer cases.
