Hey everyone! I'm planning to install a window AC unit in my basement apartment, but I've got a bit of a tricky situation. My window is actually below ground level, and there's an open area outside that's about 3 feet wide, 3 feet deep, and around 4-5 feet high, but it's covered by a plastic dome to prevent falls since it's in a parking lot. Does anyone think this space is sufficient for venting the AC properly, or should I modify the dome cover in some way? Any advice would really help. Thanks a lot!

That dome is definitely going to be an issue. Air conditioners need a proper outlet for the hot air they pull from your space. If you take off the dome, you might get some air circulation, but it won't be efficient. Plus, you'll need to think about draining any condensate properly unless you're okay with it dripping out the back. Just something to consider!
I agree, the dome's going to block airflow completely. You might want to consider taking the dome off and building a barrier or some sort of structure that allows for ventilation but keeps things safe from access. Just make sure you can still open it if there's a fire! And by the way, don’t forget about adding a condensate trap and pump if necessary.
This is what I thought. My landlord def will not do that. Thank you.
