Hey fellow plant enthusiasts! I'm curious about your thoughts on reusing potting soil from season to season. Personally, I've always done it without any problems, and I've even been lucky enough to get surprise plants from seeds that didn't sprout the first time! I know some folks think it's best to toss it all out and start fresh, but that seems wasteful and costs a lot too. I usually just fluff it up and mix in some compost or fresh soil. What about you? Have you reused your potting soil, and have you seen any unexpected successes or challenges, like random tomatoes or mystery flowers?

I think it really depends on what you were growing. For instance, my tomatoes tend to get root-bound by the end of the season, so I chuck that soil and start fresh. But the soil from my annual flowers? I just top it off and add some slow-release fertilizer! Nothing goes to waste here!
I also reuse my potting soil. In the fall, I loosen it up, add some kitchen scraps and compost, and let it sit outside until spring. It's surprising how well it works year after year!
I definitely reuse my soil! I mix it up and add some compost or manure to keep it fresh. It's a great way to save money and still keep my plants happy!
Totally agree! Mixing with compost really helps revive it, especially if it gets a bit too wet.
That sounds great! I've done something similar and always end up with amazing soil after mixing it with compost.
