I've heard that using electric hedge trimmers isn't great for boxwood shrubs, so I'm curious about people's experiences with hand tools. How long does it typically take to trim a boxwood using hand shears? Thanks for your insights!

I mostly use hand shears for a good workout! It can be a bit tedious, but if you have the time, it’s not too bad. Plus, you really get to fine-tune the shape of your shrubs that way.
I switch between hand tools and power tools based on my needs. Hand tools are awesome for more delicate, precise trimming, especially on smaller shrubs. Just takes a bit longer, but it can be worth it for the control you get.
I used to be all about manual trimming, but since battery-powered trimmers became lightweight and efficient, I've switched to those. They save me a ton of time compared to doing it all by hand!
I've been trimming by hand for years but recently embraced electric tools—it's way quicker and easier now! Just don’t forget to occasionally prune inside the shrubs to keep them healthy, especially if you notice they’re only growing on the outsides.
I use hand clippers made by Fiskar, and I usually get one boxwood trimmed in about 8-10 minutes, though I can go faster if I'm not too picky about it! It definitely takes a bit of effort, but the precision is nice.
Totally agree! Fiskar really knows how to make quality tools.

Definitely! That inner pruning helps so much. It’s like giving them a fresh start.
