Do You Still Care About Energy Use After Going Solar?

I recently got the green light to start using my solar system, and while I do have net metering and will get some money for any energy I produce over my usage, it's not much at $0.045 per kWh. Even though I won't benefit significantly from overproduction, I can't help but feel the urge to save energy. I'm curious if this energy conservation mindset fades after going solar, or if others still feel strongly about it. On top of that, I'm toying with the idea of expanding my solar array to make the most of my inverter's capacity, though I don't really need that extra energy right now.

I've noticed I’m more aware of my energy habits, but it’s kind of liberating not to obsess as much. I try to shift my usage to off-peak times and take advantage of free nights and weekends when I can. Honestly, with sunrise savings here in Texas, the solar options are a bit frustrating!

Honestly, I think it depends on your reasons for going solar. I care about saving money, the environment, and my community, so I still manage my energy use. I don’t aim for 100% savings, but I'm definitely still the one turning off lights and running appliances at night to save on costs.

After installing solar, I’m definitely more relaxed about energy use, but I still keep an eye on it. I won’t blast the AC during the day or anything extreme. It’s nice to not stress too much over the electricity bill anymore.
