Does Adding a Bathroom in an Unfinished Basement Really Boost Home Value?

I'm in the process of deciding whether to finish a partially complete bathroom in my unfinished basement. Currently, there's just a toilet with nice tile flooring, but it's not set up for a shower or sink yet. I would need to spend around $1,500 to get the shower and sink drains installed. Do you think this investment would pay off when I go to sell my house, especially since the rest of the basement is mostly unfinished?

Yes, having an extra bathroom is always a bonus. People typically prefer homes with multiple bathrooms, especially if they have to share. It enhances your listing's attractiveness significantly. For just $1,500, you're likely going to get a good return when you sell your home!

Definitely, adding an extra bathroom is usually a great investment! If you spend $1,500 now, you could see it add around $5,000 to your home value in the long run. Waiting to do it later could mean spending much more for less return. Getting it done earlier seems like a smart move!

Honestly, it also depends on how long you plan to stay in your house. If it's less than 5 years, you might not see a huge increase in value right away. But if you're in it for the longer haul, that extra bathroom will definitely make your home more appealing. We looked for homes with more than one bath and excluded those that only had one!
