Does Gardening Help Manage Anxiety?

Asked By SunnyDreamer32 On

Hey everyone! I've been dealing with anxiety for about seven months due to various life events, and it's really taken a toll on me. I recently started gardening, and I find it to be quite therapeutic. However, I worry that I might be too late to start this journey after being in such a stressed state for so long. Has anyone else had a similar experience, and do you have any tips or advice about gardening and mental health? Thanks a lot!

Gardening is my escape! For me, it's a unique experience where time seems to slip away as I focus on the soil and plants. There's always something new to try without needing to spend a lot. Create your list of what you’d like to grow and experiment a little – it’s super fun! Welcome to your new hobby!

I highly recommend combining therapy with your gardening journey. It can be a great duo! Also, consider getting some easy-care houseplants for the winter months to keep you connected. They’ve really helped lower my own anxiety levels!

You're definitely not too late to start gardening! It's actually never too late to begin anything that benefits your mental health. Just remember, while gardening can be rewarding, it can also cause some stress at times, like losing plants or messing up watering. But don’t let that discourage you! What’s great about plants is they can be forgiving, and every cycle brings new hope. Enjoy every moment in your garden!

Starting small in your gardening adventure can be a huge relief. It gives you a chance to learn without getting overwhelmed. I began with an allotment and it really transformed my mental health! Just take it at your own pace, and remember to enjoy the process.
