So, I had this M18 Jigsaw that stopped working after about 100 cuts. When it broke, I opened it up to try and fix it, but then I couldn't get it closed again, which was a rookie move. I decided to use the warranty instead and shipped it back to Milwaukee with a ziplock bag of parts inside. Unfortunately, they denied my warranty claim, saying that because the tool was opened when they got it, the warranty was voided. I'm worried that if I have any other Milwaukee tools break, I should just send them back without trying to open them first. Has anyone else had a similar experience? What do you all think about warranty voids if you've opened a tool?

I've heard of folks successfully getting warranties honored even after opening their tools, but they made sure to put everything back together properly before sending it in. Sending just the pieces like you did might have been a big factor in your claim getting denied. Just a thought!

Yeah, that’s probably it. I get why you'd want to avoid messing with it too much, but showing them a fully intact tool is definitely the way to go.
