Does Paint Tape Actually Work for Clean Lines?

Asked By CuriousCat42 On

I'm really struggling with paint tape! Every time I try to use it, it either won't stick and ends up falling off, or my paint lines come out all messy. Am I doing something wrong, or is it just that paint tape is generally ineffective?

Blue tape can work well too, but you need to prep your walls first. I swear that just washing your walls helps the tape stick better. If your walls are dirty, the tape won't adhere.

That's so true! I thought it was just me, but wiping the walls really does make a big difference before taping.

I've had terrible luck with tape bleeding until I learned to cut in with a brush instead. It does take a little practice, but it saves so much time in the end! Plus, you can avoid all the fuss with tape.

Learning to cut in by hand is honestly a skill worth having. It's really satisfying once you get the hang of it!

Frog Tape is definitely the way to go! I've used it for years and haven’t looked back. Just make sure to really press it against the wall and pull it off while the paint is still a bit wet for the best results. It’s a game changer!

Totally agree! I always push it down tight when I apply it, and pulling it off while the paint is still wet makes a huge difference.
