I've just moved into a new apartment and bought a dryer without checking the vent connections first. The dryer needs a 4-inch hose, but the wall vent only accommodates a 3-inch one. I'm worried about fire hazards if I use a reducer to fit them together. I reached out to maintenance to see if they could update the wall vent, but they said it's not an option. I'm looking for advice on the safest way to handle this situation, other than buying a new dryer that's compatible with a 3-inch connection. I also don't want to use a plastic reducer, and I'm having trouble finding a reliable metal one that minimizes fire risks. Any tips?

Using a rigid 4" metal vent is ideal, but if your setup is short and straight, you might manage fine with a reducer. Just keep it clear of lint and kinks, especially with gas dryers since they'll need to vent combustion exhaust too. A little caution goes a long way!

Should I consider a metal reducer or stick with the 4" hose? Also, my 4-inch Deflecto Supurr-Flex hose came from Walmart; should I swap it for something else?
