I'm looking for a gardening project that's simple enough for anyone to do, even if you don't have a green thumb. Ideally, I'd like something that takes about 10-15 minutes a day, can fit in a medium-sized cardboard box, and is meant to grow something I can actually eat. I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed by all the complicated YouTube tutorials, and it seems like a lot of the hosts act like it's super easy when I'm just sitting here confused with notes. Any suggestions that are foolproof and budget-friendly?

Just a heads up, every plant has its needs—like light, water, and nutrition. You can grow a tomato in a small pot, but it won't thrive like one in a bigger container with proper drainage and lots of sunlight. If you have decent light, I'd recommend sticking to smaller varieties, like Tiny Tim tomatoes. They're compact and still give you those delicious cherry tomatoes without taking up too much space.
How about growing a tomato plant? If I can keep mine alive on my first try, it should definitely be easy enough for anyone. You just need to plant it and water it! I also added basil, and so far, no major issues like hornworms. Just keep some soapy water on hand in case you get aphids—it's an easy fix. Plus, you can prune the plant, but honestly, it's not necessary if you're just starting out!

Watch out for the birds! They can get really aggressive about eating your tomatoes.
