EVA Foam Tiles vs. Self-Adhesive Vinyl Flooring for My Laundry Room: What’s Better?

Hey everyone! I'm planning to install a new floor in my laundry room, which used to be a garage and has a cement base. I'm not super experienced with DIY projects, so I need some guidance. I've come across EVA foam floor tiles and I'm wondering if they're a good choice. Are they slip-resistant? I also found self-adhesive vinyl flooring that I could stick directly to the cement. Will it work on that surface? What would be the easiest and best option for me? Or is there a better alternative out there? Thanks for any advice!

Before you decide on flooring, make sure to do a moisture test on your concrete. Both EVA foam and peel-and-stick vinyl can trap moisture underneath, which could cause issues over time. If you're planning to place the washer and dryer back in, EVA tiles might not be the best choice since they can struggle with weight and leveling. Personally, I've had a bad experience with peel-and-stick vinyl in my own bathroom; it started peeling up and created some trip hazards. Just something to keep in mind!

Thanks for the tips! I wasn’t planning to move the washer and dryer at the moment. I'm mostly wanting to spruce things up since it looks a bit rough. Definitely appreciate the warning!

Honestly, if you're looking for something hassle-free, self-adhesive vinyl might be a better choice for your situation, especially since it's easy to install right on the cement. However, be sure to clean the surface very well before applying it for the best stick. EVA foam has its perks like being softer underfoot and usually more cushioned, but it can trap moisture, like others mentioned. If you're just trying to make the space look nicer for now, the vinyl could be the way to go!
