Exciting News: My Garden is Full of Ladybird Eggs!

Hey everyone! I'm thrilled to bits because my garden is now filled with ladybird eggs! Over the last week, I've been gently moving any ladybirds I found to a big nasturtium plant that's crawling with aphids—figured it would be great for both parties. I'm not sure if it's my efforts or just the lovely warm weather, but today I discovered tons of ladybird eggs on the nasturtiums! I've even spent some time protecting the eggs from the drying sun.

Also, I've decided to raise some cabbage white caterpillars in my greenhouse. I want to support pollinators, but I don't want to let them overrun my garden either, so this feels like a good compromise. I'm really curious if these small changes will make a difference. I'd love to hear what you all have tried that made an impact in your gardens!

That’s fantastic! I love how you’re nurturing both the ladybirds and the caterpillars. I found a ladybird in my front garden while weeding and moved it to my roses, hoping it would enjoy a good meal. Keep up the great work!

Loved that you relocated a ladybird! It really helps when we all do our part.

What a sight those ladybird eggs are! ? I even found images of what they look like just after they hatch. My experience has been similar; I spotted a batch on a pea plant and after a few days, I saw the baby ladybird larvae. They say the mom leaves some extra eggs for their little ones to snack on before they go off to fight the aphids. It’s really a lovely cycle!

Wow, I had no clue about the extra snack! That's such a neat survival tactic.

Those little larvae are quite a sight! I’ll be checking my plants more closely from now on.
