Hey everyone! We moved into our house about a year ago, but with a baby, I haven't had much time to work on the garden. So far, I've only cleared the beds and potted some bulbs. I'd love to transform the garden by adding small trees, shrubs, and creating a seating area where I can also set up a space for the kids with a trampoline and swings. However, every time I step outside, I feel overwhelmed by how big and empty the space is, and end up doing nothing. I'd appreciate any tips on where to start and what layout you think would work best for my vision. I did manage to add a photo of the garden, taken around 1 PM, showing the areas that need shade-friendly plants and where I'm considering a sunny seating spot.

This time of year is perfect for tackling the bigger, woody plants and clearing out anything that's not needed. Consider cutting the grass and letting whatever is in your garden go wild for a bit. It might not look great at first, but it's a good way to start getting a handle on the space and gives you time to decide what you really want to focus on.
It sounds like a great project! First off, I couldn't see your photo initially, but I recommend sharing it through a different site if it still doesn't show up. Starting with a plan is key! Think about what you want the end result to look like and work on different sections at a manageable pace. Be patient and observe how your garden changes throughout the seasons – this will help you determine where to put plants that need more or less sun.

Thanks for the tip! I've added the photo now. You're right; stocking a garden can really add up, especially if you want instant results!
