I'm considering going solar at my new property in Walnutport, PA. I have some land available, so I plan to set up a ground mount system and will be doing most of the heavy lifting with my dad. Since I want to avoid delays with permitting, I'm looking to start off-grid. Therefore, I'm in the market for affordable panels, an inverter, and batteries. I saw a product from a solar YouTuber, Will Prowse, that ships from China—the YIXIANG Pre-assembled Vertical 15kw DIY Lithium Battery Box Kit with LIFEPO4 batteries priced at $1869, providing about 16 KWH storage. However, I'm unsure about shipping times and support if there are issues. I'm also eyeing a cost-effective inverter option—the Sungold 48V 10KW inverter—currently priced at $1690. I'd like feedback on my choices or any other affordable alternatives you might suggest. Thanks!

The YIXIANG batteries seem like a pretty good deal, especially since Will tested them. They mention a shipping time of about two weeks from their US stock, which isn't too bad. If you can get around tariffs, it might be worth it. For panels, used ones would definitely save money, but keep in mind they might not last as long. I recently bought a pallet of new 12KW panels for about $4K which I thought was reasonable. I also noticed the Aptos panels are around the same price. You should check them out!

I found a local company near Philly offering Canadian solar panels for $120 each, which is a steal compared to the normal retail price. They’re also selling a 10KW inverter for $1100—way cheaper than what you see on Amazon!
