I just noticed something growing in my raised garden bed overnight! It looks like some sort of mushroom, and it definitely was not there yesterday. We do have a few stray cats around, and I know one of them has used the bed as a litter box a couple of times before I put up a net barrier. It hasn't been very damp lately as we haven't had much rain here in Brooklyn, NY. The mushroom is about the size of my palm, and I'm worried about it. Is it safe to eat the other plants that are growing nearby after I remove this mushroom? I'll post a picture in the comments to help identify it since this is my first time posting here!

It sounds like you’ve got a mushroom popping up, which is pretty common and usually a sign of healthy soil. Mushrooms can appear quite rapidly, often after some rain. Don’t worry too much about the other plants around it; they’re typically safe to eat as long as you remove the mushroom carefully. Just remember, never eat a mushroom unless you’re 100% sure of what it is—look for three key features for identification!
Don’t stress too much! Mushrooms are generally harmless, especially if they’re just popping up in your garden. A lot of them indicate healthy mycelium in the soil, which is good for your plants. Just make sure to handle them carefully and get rid of them if you want to be safe. Oh, and the pic really helps with identification!
Yep, always best to dig it out rather than leave it there if you’re worried. Just be cautious and don’t eat anything unless you're sure!

Exactly! And even if you’re unsure, it’s always a good idea to research or ask for help before taking any risks.
