I'm dealing with a really frustrating situation trying to get my metal apartment door fixed after a break-in. One contractor didn't show up, another measured it but disappeared, and door companies seem interested but I can't get any follow-up. It's beyond stressful, especially after going through a break-in. I even attempted a DIY fix but Home Depot doesn't have the right size for my door frame. I'm hoping someone might have ideas or suggestions on what to do next, because I'm feeling stuck!

Have you checked for any manufacturing details on your door? If you can pinpoint the specific kind, try reaching out to the manufacturer. They might have local salespeople who can recommend someone for the installation, which could help get you sorted out.
If you have some tools at home, consider getting a wooden exterior door and modifying it to fit temporarily while you figure out a permanent solution. I did that with my back entryway, and even though it was a bit tricky with the hinges, it turned out great. If your door is part of an entryway, I’d suggest a fiberglass option since they can be cut down as well. You might just have to get creative with the measurements!
That sounds like a solid idea! It's an entry door along the hallway, so I might have to look into the fiberglass option if I don't find anyone to help with the metal door.
I totally get how you feel! If you're in a complex, maybe see if the property management team or an HOA can recommend a reliable contractor. Sometimes they have someone on speed dial who handles these things.
I actually tried that route, and they sent someone who took measurements but never followed up.

Thanks for the tip! Unfortunately, I couldn't find any info, which is a bummer.
