Hey everyone, I recently started major renovations on my kitchen and bathrooms using a well-reviewed local contractor. However, I've run into some problems that I'm really not happy with, and their response to my concerns has been lackluster at best. For instance, I overheard the contractor call me pesky to one of his workers, which left me feeling pretty disrespected. I get that nothing is perfect, but every time I bring up an issue, he gets defensive and makes it sound like I'm being unreasonable. Honestly, I would appreciate if he just said something like, "Here's how much extra it will cost for what you want." Now I'm questioning if I'm just being overly sensitive about the quality of work. Should I be worried about this shoddy workmanship, or am I making a big deal out of nothing? We're also considering backing out of our future projects with them and forfeiting our deposit after the work is finished. What do you think?

Honestly, I wouldn’t be surprised if this is pretty common with lower-priced contractors. You often get what you pay for! If you're not satisfied, I'd consider looking for someone who can actually deliver professional quality. If you've raised these concerns and he's been defensive, those are major red flags.
This definitely looks like uninspired workmanship. You should never feel bad about wanting your home to be done right! It sounds like this contractor is just trying to get the job done as quickly as possible without caring about the quality. If they can't fix these issues now, it's better to walk away. Trust me, it’ll be worth it to find someone who takes pride in their work.
Absolutely! I've learned the hard way that it's better to take your time and find the right person who cares.
Oh no, this work looks really poor! You’re definitely not overreacting. If you’re spending money on a contractor, they should provide quality work and respect your input. I’d say it’s time to cut your losses and let them go, especially if they aren't fixing the issues you've pointed out. Trust your instincts on this one!
Exactly! If they aren't responding positively, just move on. It will save you money in the long run.

For sure! It’s your home, and you deserve it to be done right. Don't hesitate to look for better professionals.
