Garage Door Not Closing Randomly – Need Help!

Asked By CleverOtter42 On

I'm having an issue with my garage door where it won't close completely. It starts to close and then just stops at random points every time. We had the garage door unit replaced last year, but since I bought the house the year before, I'm not sure if there's something else that needs maintenance or attention. Any thoughts on what could be the cause? Thanks for any help!

Another thing to consider is checking for any debris in the door tracks. Sometimes, a little dust or dirt can block the path, preventing the door from closing smoothly. Regularly cleaning and lubricating the tracks can really help with that!

Lubricate the rail? Is there a specific type of lubricant you recommend?

It sounds like your garage door safety sensors might be misaligned. These sensors are supposed to prevent the door from closing if something is in the way, so if they aren't aligned properly, that could cause the door to stop unexpectedly. You might want to give them a quick check!

Thanks for the tip! I wasn't sure where those sensors were, but I'll look into that.
