Garage Door Seal Replacement Causing Closing Issues – Help!

I recently replaced the seal on my garage door, but now the garage opener seems to be having trouble when trying to close the door. It only manages to close about six inches before the sensor detects something and causes the door to reopen. I'm concerned that I may have misaligned something during the seal replacement. Is this something I can troubleshoot and fix myself, or should I call in a professional?

Try checking the safety sensors at the bottom of the door. If they're bumped or misaligned, that could cause the door to not close. A simple adjustment might do the trick.

Most openers allow you to adjust the stopping point of the door. This is usually done at the opener's head. It's worth looking up the instructions specific to your model to set it so that it doesn't think there’s an issue.

It sounds like the new seal might be thicker than the old one, which can trigger the safety feature on your garage door opener. When the door gets to a certain point, it thinks it’s hitting an obstruction and reverses. I’d recommend checking the manual for your opener to see how to adjust the safety feature.
