I'm having an issue with my garage door sensors being triggered by sunlight about 70% of the time. Since my garage faces south, one sensor picks up sunlight in the morning and the other in the afternoon, causing me to hold down the button to close the door. I really don't want to disable the sensors because I'm concerned about leaving pets or other animals at risk. Does anyone have suggestions to prevent sunlight from affecting the sensors?

Have you thought about just cleaning the sensors? Dust or debris on them can sometimes cause issues, especially when sunlight hits them.
If your sensors are struggling due to prolonged sunlight, it might be worth replacing them altogether. Sometimes, they just wear out from the heat. Another quick tip would be to switch their positions; it could help with the issue if they aren’t functioning well from the sun exposure.
One quick fix is to shade the sensors to block direct sunlight. You could start with something simple like a toilet paper tube, then make it more permanent if that works for you. It's an easy test to see if it resolves the issue!

I tried using PVC tubing and a zip tie for shading, and it’s held up perfectly for three years! So if you find something that works, don’t hesitate to stick with it.
