I'm looking to start gardening to grow my own food, but since it's now the beginning of winter, I'm unsure how to tackle this in a cold climate like the UK or Ireland. I've heard it's tough to grow things during the winter months, so I'm wondering how feasible it is to start growing now, or if I should just wait until summer? Any advice?

You might want to check out a gardening calendar online for guidance. Generally, it's best to start sowing seeds in the spring once the frost has passed. Right now, there are a few things like garlic and onions you can plant, but they won't be ready until summer.
Absolutely give it a go! Remember, different areas and micro-climates can really affect your ability to grow things. Use this time to prepare your garden beds and think about what you'd like to plant where. Just exploring the possibilities can be super rewarding!
Other than onions and garlic, winter isn’t prime growing time. This season can be much better spent planning and prepping your garden for spring. It's a good idea to get familiar with what you want to grow and start preparing your soil now. Each vegetable has different nutrient needs, so think about adding manure or compost. Don’t forget to check out sites like Gardeners' World or RHS for helpful info! It’s okay to have some fails along the way; it’s all part of the learning process!
