Getting a Banging Noise in the Walls When Using Faucets?

I've recently moved into a new house, and I've noticed that every time we turn on the water in certain faucets, there's a loud banging noise coming from within the walls. I'm not sure what's causing it or how to fix it, but it definitely seems related to the plumbing. Any insights or ideas on what might be going on?

It sounds like you’re experiencing something called 'water hammer.' It happens when water flow is abruptly stopped, creating a shock wave that causes the pipes to bang against the walls. You can find plenty of information online about how to fix this issue; it usually involves installing something called a hammer arrester or adjusting your water pressure.

Thanks for the tip! Is it typical for this to happen with some faucets but not others?
