Hi everyone! I'm brand new to gardening and I'm eager to get started. I have a large garden space of around 820 square feet, but about 60% of it is overrun with thorns, nettles, and other weeds. I'm looking for advice on quick and easy fruits and herbs to plant. My garden faces ENE, so sunlight shouldn't be an issue. I'm in zone 9a, and I really need help! I've even managed to kill off nasturtiums, which I've heard are among the easiest plants to grow. Any tips on what I should plant and how to tackle these weeds without getting hurt would be greatly appreciated!

Have you checked out the RHS book "Grow Your Own Veg Through the Year"? It’s a great resource and can really help you figure out what to plant and when. Definitely worth getting!
For dealing with those pesky weeds, you could look into thorn-proof sleeves to protect your arms, and don't forget some gardening gloves too! As for what to plant, you can't go wrong with fast-growing herbs like thyme, mint (just keep it in a pot!), and parsley—they fill out quickly! I also recommend trying wild rocket, borage, chives, and even strawberries or raspberries. Plus, perennial kales are surprisingly easy to maintain once you get them started. They can be propagated easily too! Oh, and don’t forget about nettles; you can actually make tea from them!

Good point! Just remember, fast-growing plants will keep growing fast. It's something to think about since it means you'll have more maintenance to do in the long run!
