Hey folks! I'm new to the wonderful world of succulents and I'm super excited to start nurturing them at home. Recently, I picked out some beautiful varieties like Echeveria Agavoides Ebony and Euphorbia Milii Rhea, but I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed since I've never cared for plants before. With autumn and winter on the horizon, I have a bunch of questions:
- What room temperature should I maintain for my succulents during the colder months?
- Is it okay to keep them all together in one spot?
- Can I leave them on a windowsill even if it gets a bit chilly?
- What type of grow light do you recommend for beginners?
- Any tips for choosing soil, pots, repotting, or essential tools I might need?
- What common mistakes should I watch out for as a newbie?
I'd love any advice or personal stories you have to share! Thank you so much!

Hey there! For winter care, it's generally safe to keep your succulents around room temperature, but try to avoid drastic temperature changes. It's good if you keep them in one space, just make sure they're not crowded. Windowsills can be nice as long as they aren't freezing, but just watch how cold it gets there. As for lights, a basic full-spectrum grow light should work just fine. I bought a simple one off Amazon last year and it did great—just follow the instructions on distance from the plants!
Great to see you taking the leap into succulents! If you haven’t already, check out some beginner guides. They can really help clarify light, watering, and soil needs. Also, keeping everything organized, with pots and tools ready, will make repotting way easier. Be mindful of overwatering, which is a common mistake for newbies. Happy planting! ?
You're in for a treat with those succulents! First off, they do need *a lot* more light than you might expect, and definitely less water than you think. When it comes to soil, using a mix of half cactus mix and half perlite works wonders. It's super important so don't overlook it! If they're inside, a regular grow light from Amazon should be fine, especially if they're getting some sunlight. Just keep an eye on them to ensure they're not getting too cold or too dry.
I totally get the excitement! Just to add, you could also keep an eye out for local plant fairs or markets; they often have great succulents and sometimes folks are there sharing tips too!

Totally agree on the soil! A good mix makes all the difference. Also, check the light levels, especially during winter!
