Hi everyone! I'm reaching out because I've been dealing with mental health challenges for a while now, and my psychiatrist suggested finding some hobbies. I've always enjoyed gardening with my mom, helping her with seeds and watching them sprout. This summer in southern Ontario, I'd love to start my own garden, focusing on wildflowers to attract bees and butterflies. I want to grow them in pots since my mom prefers that I don't touch her established garden. I would really appreciate any tips on how to successfully plant wildflowers in pots, as I aim to create beautiful arrangements for friends and family while also supporting pollinators. Thanks a ton!

A couple of tips for you: always use good potting soil when planting and don't be afraid to experiment! Some things will thrive while others may not, but that's all part of the fun. Just enjoy the gardening process and learn as you go!
Check out native wildflowers for Ontario—they attract pollinators like crazy! Consider starting with established plants this spring, especially since some seeds may need fall planting. Make sure to choose flowers that bloom at different times so you have color throughout the season. And don't plant just a few; a little extra will account for any losses!
Great point about planting more than needed! I’ll definitely keep that in mind.
You're not alone in this! Lots of us find gardening helps with mental health. Just remember, it's okay to have ups and downs with it. It's more about the journey than perfection. Also, if you're looking for flowers, Osteospermums (African daisies) are super easy to grow in pots!
This really uplifts me! I'm excited to try growing those flowers. Thanks for the encouragement!

Thanks for the advice! I'm definitely planning to experiment because I know it's my first time!
