I recently got my first router, but it didn't come with any bits. While exploring options, I've noticed that many recommendations lean towards expensive brands like Freud and Whiteside. I'm looking for suggestions on decent brands that offer quality router bits at a more affordable, mid-range price. Any advice on brands that strike a balance between cost and quality?

Amana bits are a solid choice and usually a bit cheaper than higher-end brands like Whiteside. I've had a couple that perform really well. Also, don’t rush into buying a whole set. It's better to get what you need as you start a project. Always go for 1/2” shanks, trust me on that!
If you're just a hobbyist like me, you might want to look at budget carbide bits on Amazon. I've gotten some from China for a fraction of what name brands charge, and they've served me well without dulling too quickly or breaking. Just my two cents!

Harbor Freight has a great starter set at an unbelievably low price if you're not worried too much about top-tier quality. I’ve used mine quite a bit for lighter tasks and they've held up fine!
