Hey everyone! I had a bit of a gardening mishap over the winter and lost a bunch of my vegetable plants because I didn't keep an eye on the nighttime temperatures. Now, I need to start removing these dead plants, which include large, woody pepper and tomato plants that are about 2-4 feet tall. I'm planning to reuse the pots and soil for this year's garden, but I'm wondering what to do with the dry, brown stalks and branches left behind. I don't have a wood chipper or many power tools, so I'm looking for some quick and easy solutions instead of just tossing them into the compost heap and waiting for years. Any ideas?

If you're cutting them up into 3-4 inch pieces, you can definitely toss those into your compost pile! The brown materials from the dead plants will balance the greens in your compost, helping to speed things up. Just make sure they’re in small enough pieces to break down more quickly. Easy peasy!
