Got issues with my siding—what can I do?

Hey everyone! We just moved into this house in Western Washington about a year ago, and this summer, I've noticed that the joints between the siding on the front seem to have some adhesive decay. I'm not an expert on siding, but I really don't want to replace it all. I was thinking maybe I could fill in the gaps with something and paint over it for a quick fix. I know it's not the ideal way to approach it, but does anyone have suggestions or thoughts on what might work for now? I'll get some pictures up soon!

It sounds like you're dealing with some gaps in your siding where the adhesive is breaking down. Usually, people fill those gaps with caulk to seal them up before painting. Just make sure you leave any necessary gaps for water drainage, especially on parts above flashing. Sending some pics will definitely help us suggest better solutions!

Yeah, caulk is a good temporary fix! Just make sure to choose a paintable one.

I agree, you definitely want to use caulk to fill those spaces for a quick solution. Just remember that not all gaps should be filled—those near flashing should always be left open to let moisture escape. Can't wait to see your photos later for more tailored advice!

Exactly! Adding some pics will give everyone a better idea of what you're dealing with.
