I'm considering whether to go with the GridBoss + FlexBoss21 combo that SignatureSolar is promoting or stick with the EG4 18 kPV. I currently have a simple setup with a 40 kWh battery and typically need around 200 amps pass-through but can manage with 50 amps of battery power. It seems like I'd need three boxes (the GridBoss + 2 FlexBoss21) instead of just one 18 kPV, plus it's about $6,000 more expensive. Have any of you had a negative experience with the EG4 18 kPV that would make me rethink going to the three-box solution?

I really like my 18 kPV! The only issue I've had is a minor PV isolation warning from time to time, but other than that, it's been great for me. Definitely no major complaints here.
You actually only need one FlexBoss21. The 200 amp pass-through is integrated into the GridBoss, so adding a second FlexBoss is unnecessary unless you’re looking to expand your setup later. Plus, you could also utilize smart load ports for things like EV chargers.
I'm also curious about this. It seems like the debate between these two setups is quite big. Has anyone really dug into the pros and cons?
Exactly! This setup gives you flexibility for future upgrades, which is a nice benefit.
