Hey everyone! I'm relatively new to gardening (just finished my second year), and I mainly use planters and pots for my plants. I got some strawberry seeds for my birthday last year, but I couldn't plant them since it was too late in the season. This year, with the last frost approaching in my zone, I'm eager to get started! I have a big planter specifically for strawberries but I have two questions: Is it even feasible to grow strawberries in a planter? And what type of soil should I use for them? Thanks in advance for your help! Sorry for the lengthy post!

It totally depends on your growing zone! Generally, strawberries do well with a spring harvest. I’m in eastern Tennessee and usually start planting my seeds in pots around mid-January, well before Valentine’s Day. I use a small greenhouse and hanging baskets for mine, mixing perlite with regular yard dirt, potting mix, and even some cow manure for nutrients. Just make sure your planter has good drainage and that you keep the soil consistently moist. You should be good to go!

I’m in zone 6b, so it's still a bit chilly here until late April or early May. Thanks for the tips! I’m really excited to grow them since my brother loves strawberries!
