I'm struggling to choose between using Happy Frog potting soil or creating my own raised bed mix. I have some compost, chicken manure, worm castings, perlite, and topsoil to work with, but I'm concerned about the quality I can find. I already have some tractor supply hummus and manure too, but will it really benefit my plants? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Consider buying bulk compost and mixing it with your topsoil and worm castings. If you go with bulk options instead of the smaller bags from big box stores, you’ll save a lot. I really like Happy Frog soil, but it can run out of nutrients pretty quickly after planting, and it’s on the pricier side—like $12-20 for a 2 cu ft bag. Instead, save that cash for a good organic fertilizer like Gaia Green 4-4-4 or Down to Earth All Purpose, which you can use to make your own soil even better!
