Has Anyone Actually Benefited from Those Energy Saving Plug Devices?

I've been struggling with ridiculously high electricity bills during the summer, averaging about $15 a day and even hitting $22 on the worst days. I decided to try one of those so-called "miracle" energy-saving plug devices that promise to lower your energy usage just by being plugged in. However, now I'm starting to feel like I might have just wasted my money. I'd really appreciate it if anyone could share their experiences with these devices. Did they actually help you save on your bill, or is it all just a clever marketing scheme? Also, if there's any valid science backing these things up, I'd love to hear about it. Fingers crossed I can return this product!

Your electricity bill sounds outrageous! Insulating your house will really help with costs, especially if you’re cooling it. Have you tried blackout curtains or other window treatments? It's wild how much of a difference those can make. And if you have AC running much of the day, it's the biggest part of that bill for sure!

I hear you! I pay around $400-500 as well but keep it cool at 78°F. My house is older too, so I totally get that high bill. It really adds up during all this heat!

Honestly, those energy-saving plugs are mostly just for show. They can tell you how much energy you're using, but they don't actually reduce your consumption. If you want to lower your bills, start by looking at your biggest power hogs, like your AC. Maybe focus on better insulation or smarter energy use instead.

Those plugs are usually a scam. The only way something like that would actually help is if it turned off devices that are running constantly or if you're dealing with a crazy amount of industrial equipment. But for typical home use? Don't count on it.
