Has Anyone Else Experienced Delays with Home Renovations?

I'm dealing with a frustrating situation with a construction team that was supposed to complete my kitchen renovation quickly. They initially said it would only take five days to sand, paint, and prime a 100-square-foot kitchen, which I thought was reasonable. However, it's been a month now, and they've only shown up once, leaving a sloppy paint job and still needing to return to fix their mistakes. Communication has been terrible; they often don't respond to my texts or calls. Right now, my kitchen is a mess without a sink, cabinets, or stove, and they won't give me a timeline for when they'll finish. Should I expect to wait much longer with this lack of communication?

I feel for you! Typically, priming and painting shouldn’t take forever, especially for a small space. Have you checked if your agreement mentioned any timelines or penalties for delays? Since this is a family deal, it might get awkward, but protecting your space is what's important. If they can’t meet deadlines, you might need to lay down some boundaries or look for someone more reliable.

This is a tough spot to be in, especially with family involved! If it were me, I’d be tempted to start considering other options. It sounds like they might be juggling a lot of projects. Have you thought about doing anything yourself while waiting? It might help to take back a bit of control over the situation. And definitely, don’t pay them until the work is up to standard!

Wow, that sounds really frustrating! It's definitely not normal for a simple job to take this long, especially when you've got a contractor who's family. You mentioned they haven’t kept you updated at all, which is a huge red flag. It's time to have an honest talk with them, or consider bringing in someone else who can get the job done properly. Honestly, you might just end up saving time and stress by hiring another contractor altogether.
