Has Anyone Experienced a Table Saw Switch Sticking On?

I recently tried to cut a 1/2 lap joint in a 2x4 using my old 20-year-old Sears contractor table saw. About a quarter of the way through, something felt off, so I turned it off. To my surprise, the saw kept running! I toggled the switch on and off a couple of times, but nothing changed until I unplugged it, while AC/DC's 'Who Made You' was playing in my head. Have any of you experienced a switch that fails to shut off? I always thought a switch failure would mean the machine turns off, not stay on. I'd love to hear if others have faced this or what the implications are!

Did you kick anything else while using it? With all these modern tools talking to each other, I wouldn’t be surprised if they were plotting against you! Just to be safe, maybe keep a close eye on your mower and take the car's tires off until things settle down!

Haha, right? Maybe a little vacation is in order to chill out from all this machinery drama!

Yeah, having a switch fail to turn off is pretty rare, but it can happen. It could depend on what's wrong with the switch. You might want to think about replacing it or even consider upgrading to a newer model if it's causing you this kind of trouble!

That's what I was thinking! Given it's a 20-year-old saw, maybe it's time for an upgrade. Just kind of scary to think what could've happened if I hadn't unplugged it.
