Has Anyone Experienced Changes in Depth Perception After Cataract Surgery?

Hey everyone, I'm reaching out to share my recent experience and hopefully get some insight. I just had cataract surgery on both eyes after wearing corrective lenses since 4th grade. The goal was to improve my distance vision, but now I need reading glasses for close work. I tried using my table saw today, but the transition between the different lens prescriptions made everything look like it was shifting several inches, which pretty much freaked me out and I stopped right away. I'm wondering if my depth perception will get better once I get my real glasses in a couple of weeks. Has anyone else gone through something similar?

I had similar struggles with my vision after switching to progressives. They’re great for woodworking since they’re often impact-resistant, and they really helped me out. I also switched to a full face mask for safety while working, which I wish I had done earlier! Totally protect yourself out there!

I really recommend steering clear of power tools until your new glasses arrive. It’s just not worth the risk right now! Your bathroom cabinets can wait!

That’s the plan! Safety first!

You're definitely not alone with this issue! Everyone's eyes and experiences are unique, and this can happen after surgery. It's best to explain your situation to your eye care specialist; they have the tools to help you figure this out more effectively than a forum can.
