Has Anyone Here Made Their Own Vidicon Tubes?

I'm curious if there are any members here who have actually tried making their own vidicons. It seems like a pretty rare DIY project. Have any of you taken on this challenge?

Honestly, I think making your own vidicons is a stretch. The manufacturing process and the target structure of these tubes are complex. You might have better luck with something like an iconoscope tube; that could be a fun DIY project to explore!

Is there even a market for vidicons anymore? They seem pretty niche these days. I wonder if anyone actually needs them for projects or if it’s all just collector's stuff these days.

I’d guess that the number of people who make their own vacuum tubes is super low—maybe like three? It’s a really specialized hobby, so I wouldn't be surprised if no one here has tackled vidicons specifically. But hey, maybe I'm wrong!

You might be onto something! It does sound like a super advanced project, but then again, tube-making might surprise us!
